Genuinely New Features of iPhone 8/iPhone X
This might be one of the most concerning aspects of iPhone 8. But we still don’t know for sure. Some rumors it will be available in 64GB and 256GB, and others suggest it will start at 64GB, also with 128GB and 256GB options.
No Home Button Touch ID with Facial Recognition
With an edge-to-edge OLED design, the iPhone X might be sold alongside with 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus. There will be no physical Home button, instead, it will totally rely on touch-based gesture controls on switching apps open and navigating Home screen. According to KGI Securities Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Touch ID will replaced by Facial Recognition, powered with new 3D sensors, which also let people unlock phone and make Apple Pay payment.
Dual-lens Camera in Vertical Configuration
It predits that 4.7-inch iPhone X will equippet with a single-lens rear camera, while 5.5-inch with a dual-lens. And the new device will adopt a new vertical dual camera arrangement, with rear-facing VCSEL (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) system. This will contribute to faster and more accurate depth measurements for augmented reality purposes, along with speedier autofocusing when taking a photo.
Enhanced Water Resistance
Like iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7, iPhone 8 will also be water resistance. iPhone X may feature in an IP68 water resistance rating, which will protect the device, immersing in the 1.5-meter water for up to 30 minutes, from damage and dust.
In February, Apple joined the Wireless Power Consortium, an industry standards-setting group behind the Qi wireless charging standard. iPhone X/iPhone 8 is expected to have wireless charging solution that will be enabled through an optional accessory that will be purchased alongside the new iPhones.
Animated 3D Emoji
A brand new fun feature - Animoji is put into iPhone 8, which uses the 3D face sensors to create custom 3D animated emoji based on the facial expression you make into the camera. Also, there is a great variety of animoji, such as monkey, rabbit, pig, robot and more.
