Do you have trouble entering DFU mode with your iOS device due to the failure of Home key? Thus, you can’t jailbreak your iPhone or other iOS device as you want? Fortunately, thanks to the Dev Team, the latest RedSn0w is released to help you tackle the problem. Now you are totally allowed to put your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch in DFU mode, even without the need of Home button. Just follow us. The steps below will lead to your successfully entering DFU mode.
Note: Surely, make a backup of your device with iTunes before.
Put your iOS Device in DFU Mode without Home Button
Step 1. Download and install the latest RedSn0w 0.9.14b2 on your PC.
Step 2. Run RedSn0w then. Go to “Extras” > “Even more” > “DFU IPSW” and click “OK” in the pop-up dialog box.
Step 3. Select the corresponding IPSW file downloaded before. Take iPhone 3GS for an example, you should choose firmware of iOS 5.1.1 as it is the only compatible version with iPhone 3GS.
Step 4. RedSn0w will automatically generate a new IPSW file with prefix ENTER_DFU_. You will be noticed of the newly created IPSW file, just click “OK” then. For instance, the new generated IPSW file will be named “ENTER_DFU_iPod4,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw” if you select iOS 5.1.1 firmware for your iPod touch. The original file can be seen as “iPod 4,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw”.
Step 5. Connect your device to the computer and open iTunes (Make sure the iTunes has been updated to the latest version). Find your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch in iTunes. Press “Shift” key and click on “Restore” button on the homescreen. Select the newly created IPSW file named after the ENTER_DFU_ prefix and click “OK”.
Step 6. Now your device will enter DFU mode after restarting. The homescreen will be all black and you can follow the tutorial to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as you like
